CBCT® Foundation Courses

CBCT® Foundation Courses are led by Senior CBCT Instructors.  These courses are appropriate for beginners as well as experienced meditators. Because they are led by Senior Instructors, CBCT Foundation Courses fulfill a requirement for admission into the CBCT Teacher Certification program, which you can learn more about here.

CBCT ® Foundation Course


Dates:

The entire two-part course covering all 8 CBCT modules will be held over two weekends:

Part 1: Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22, 2024
Part 2: Saturday and Sunday, October 19-20, 2024

Times:

Saturdays:      9:00 am – 3:00 pm EST (lunch: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm) 
Sundays:    9:00 am – 3:00 pm EST (lunch: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm)

In-person at Drepung Loseling, 1781 Dresden Drive, Atlanta, GA 30319 or Online via Zoom

Fees:

$425 General public (recommend for ages 18 and older)

$325 Emory employees

$225 Full-time students in a degree-granting program

$225 Individuals age 65 and over

 Fees include all course material, plus a one-year enrollment in the CBCT® meditation app.

Financial Assistance:  During these challenging times, we would like to make CBCT® available to all who feel that they would benefit.  To request a discounted rate, send a message explaining your financial situation.  Clearly indicate the amount you are able to pay.  All requests will be considered.  Upon committee approval, discounts will be granted as generously as possible.  Send requests to:  cbct@emory.edu.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:   No refunds will be issued within seven (7) days of the start of the course.  If registration is cancelled prior to that time, your fee will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee.  We cannot split registrations over multiple courses.  No registration is guaranteed until payment is received.

The above CBCT® Foundation Course is co-sponsored by the Emory University School of Medicine and the Center for Contemplative Science & Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University. The Emory University School of Medicine is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Emory University School of Medicine maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Full attendance is required to receive CE credit. 

Accuracy and Utility:  All materials presented will be grounded in peer-reviewed scholarship, and when possible, based on empirical data.   CBCT® is taught via constructivist pedagogy that puts the process of learning into the hands of the learner as much as possible.  Thereby, supporting adult learners in a developmentally appropriate manner. 

The CBCT® Foundation Course is introductory level programing, as defined by the APA.

Upon receipt of the $50 processing fee and successful completion of the course, a certificate certifying the award of APA CE credits will be issued to the individual


Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Those who complete any CBCT® Foundation Course or CBCT® Compassion Training for Nurses & Other Providers or CBCT® for Emory School of Medicine Faculty & Staff course are entitled to apply for continuing education credits (CEUs, CNE credits or CME credits).  CBCT continuing education credits have been approved in the past for licensed counselors as well as other groups; however, we strongly encourage you to confirm acceptance of the credits with your professional organization’s governing body before enrolling.  Continuing education credits require attendance at 8O% of all classes.  Upon receipt of the $50 processing fee and successful completion of the course, a letter certifying the award of CEUs will be issued to the individual.  For CNE credits and CME credits, please contact us in advance of the course you wish to enroll.
