Foundation Courses at Emory

CBCT® Foundation Course - Weekend Intensive

CBCT® Foundation Course - Eight-Weekly Sessions

DETAILS

Zoom platform:  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, both the Eight-Week and Weekend Intensive Foundation Courses will be held online via the Zoom meeting platform.  Please confirm that your computer or phone is compatible with Zoom and that you will have dependable internet service on the days of the course.  The Zoom meeting link and instructions will be emailed to all registrants three (3) days prior to the first class.

Cost:  $395 for the general public; full-time students (age 18+) and full-time Emory employees receive a $100 discount for a rate of $295; and the discounted rate for full-time Emory students and individuals age 65 and over is $195. 

During these challenging times, we would like to make CBCT® available to those who feel that they would benefit from the course regardless of financial status.  If you require financial assistance to attend CBCT®, but do not fit the categories above for discounts, please send a brief note explaining the situation and the amount of discount that would be required for you to enroll.  Though we cannot guarantee support to everyone, all requests will be considered and awards granted two weeks prior to the class start date. 

Cancellation and Refund Policy:   No refunds will be issued within seven (7) days of the start of the course.  If registration is cancelled prior to that time, your fee will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee.  We cannot split registrations over multiple courses.  No registration is guaranteed until payment is received.

For-Credit Courses:  Courses listed on this site are not for academic credit.  CBCT® for academic credit is available for Emory students through the Registrar’s office.

CBCT® 2-Day Summer Retreat - ONLINE

Dates:           Saturday, June 26 – Sunday, June 27

Times:           9:00am – 5:30pm EDT (includes breaks for self-care and lunch)

CBCT® retreats are open to anyone who has completed a full CBCT® course.  Please join us for this opportunity to refresh your knowledge and practice.

You will need to have access to the Zoom videoconference platform.  The Zoom meeting link and instructions will be sent to registrants two (2) days before the retreat begins.

The Eight-Week and Weekend Intensive CBCT® Foundation Courses (not the Retreat) are co-sponsored by the Emory University School of Medicine and the Center for Contemplative Science & Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University.  The Emory University School of Medicine is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  The Emory University School of Medicine maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Full attendance is required to receive CE credit. 

Accuracy and Utility:  All materials presented will be grounded in peer-reviewed scholarship, and when possible, based on empirical data.  CBCT® is taught via constructivist pedagogy that puts the process of learning into the hands of the learner as much as possible.  Thereby, supporting adult learners in a developmentally appropriate manner. 

Both the Eight-Week and Weekend Intensive CBCT® Foundation Courses are introductory level programing, as defined by the APA.

Upon receipt of the $50 processing fee and successful completion of the course, a certificate certifying the award of APA CE credits will be issued to the individual.


Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Those who complete any CBCT® Foundation Course or CNE or CME course are entitled to apply for continuing education credits (CEUs, CNE credits or CME credits).  CBCT continuing education credits have been approved in the past for licensed counselors as well as other groups; however, we strongly encourage you to confirm acceptance of the credits with your professional organization’s governing body before enrolling.  Continuing education credits require attendance at 8O% of all classes.  Upon receipt of the $50 processing fee and successful completion of the course, a letter certifying the award of CEUs will be issued to the individual.  For CNE credits and CME credits, please contact us in advance of the course you wish to enroll.
